'had', 'have had' or 'had had'

Hi,

I'm kind of confused with the three sentences below. Is there only one that is correct?

1. I was wondering if you had a chance to look at the e-mail below.

2. I was wondering if you have had a chance to look at the e-mail below (yet?)

3. I was wondering if you had had a chance to look at the e-mail below.

Is there any difference if I use 'I wonder ...'?

Thanks,
Clarence

From a conversational perspective, only # 1 sounds idiomatic to my ear. # 2 is fine but I would use " I am wondering .... ".

  • I won't use # 3 as it is unnecessary.
