To be frank, I don't see any good reason to use the past perfect ( had happened ). There is no action in the past to serve as the reference point for the past perfect. CJ

To be frank, I don't see any good reason to use the past perfect (had happened). There is no action in the past to serve as the reference point for the past perfect.
