Had got - correct?

Hi all.

Is the "had got" in my sentence correct? As far as I know the "original" idiom goes like : Give it everything you have got

I have always looked up to Roger Federer, considered by many the best athlete in the world. The reason wasn´t my ambition to play tennis as well as he does. Mainly, it was his motivation to work hard and give it everything he had got.

Thank you.

It's correct, but we often do not say 'got'. eg Give it everything you have. eg Mainly it was his motivation to work hard and give it everything he had.
