Had felt vs felt

Hi,

I have a question regarding on had felt/felt.

For example:

Because of her bad reputuation in class, I had felt that she was begining to lose interest in her study.

Should I change to felt instead of had felt?

Thanks!

Cheers,

I think it is better. Past perfect sounds ok when you refer to definite completion of an action. In this case feel is not an action verb and hence past tense will suffice.
