Had enough time for me to go pass

Driving test

-------------

Reporter: Did you pass your test today?

Man: I actually didn't. I failed today's test. I figured that the car that was

coming had enough time, that is, had enough time for me to go pass.

But I couldn't, I didn't make it.

--------------------------------------------------------------

I have two questions:

1- what does "for me" mean?

Does it mean "in my opinion"?

-----------

had enough time for me to go pass ?

2- Who "had enough time"?

Thank you

First, it has to be said that "to go pass" is not English, and I can't tell what the writer thought it meant. Maybe he meant "to go past", but that does not make much sense in context, so I will use "to pass", which means to overtake another car by entering the lane next to it and accelerating until there is room to get back in the original lane in front of it. Does it mean "in my opinion"?

  • You are parsing it wrong.
  • "For me to pass" is an adverbial prepositional phrase headed by "for", modifying "enough", with an infinitive clause as the object of the preposition.
