I had changed this to another thing yesterday.

Which one is correct? please help. I think the second one is ok? why use the first one then?

Both are correct but in this circumstance the second one is much better to use. I don't know much about those kind of tenses and when they should be used, sorry, but the second one is definitely right for this situation
