What is the difference between "had better do" and "had best do" ? Which of them is used more frequently or in what contexts either of them is used?
One more thing, I have also stumbled across only the usage of "better" in daily conservations in American English as in
"You better leave a note so they`ll know you`ll be late." Does it have the same meaning with "had better" ?
