Had better do it

There is a construction like - You had better do it.
I was wondering whether it is possible to use it with past tense.
Will it be like - You had better have done it......??? Or what is the right way to say it?
Regards.

I wouldn't use any of it in formal writing, as I find it to be a jumbled version of "it would be better if you didn't do it". But, I think your past tense example works.
