HAD BETTER

Hi!

How can I make the sentence, "You had better do it." into past perfect sentence, like, "I had done it"?

Is it, "You had had better do it"?

Or, we don't use the past perfect for "had better"?

Top answer

Hi, 'Had better' means that someone ought to do something. We use it for the present/future, not for the past. Best wishes, Clive
