Had been aswering

Hi,

I have some queries on the following, appreciate if you could advise, thanks.

Q) I worked in a company from 2007 to 2010, between 2008 and 2009, I was required to answer all the customers' call due to the absent of phone operator.

So now, is it correct to say "I had been answering the customers' call for 1 year from 2008 to 2009"?

and is it right to ask "How long had you been answering the call in the absent of operator"?
