Talking about a past relationship:

I don't think I have ever been in love as much as I have been while I was with him.

Please proofread. Thank you!

Shouldn't it be as much as I had been?

I'd go for:

I don't think I have ever been in love as much as I was while I was with him.

It's ... as I was while ...

because there is a gap in time between when you were with him and the present moment when you are saying this. You haven't been with him all the way up to now. You stopped being with him in the past.
