'Had appreciate' grammar

Hi All,

Please let me know if the following sentence is correct.

"I had highly appreciate a portion of your valuable time spent on completing this questionnaire with honest entries."

I and my girlfriend fought for two days over this sentence, because her dad told this sentence was gramatically incorrect!

There are a number of problems with this sentence. The main one is that
'I had . . . appreciate' is not a correctly formed tense.
Perhaps you mean the Past Perfect 'I had . . . appreciated'. But the Past Perfect is not a good choice of tense in this sentence.

The rest of the sentence is very awkwardly worded.
A simple version would be
eg "I appreciate the time you spent on completing this questionnaire."

But i guess, like this would suite a thing that happened already.

I had appreciated him for the good work he did.

The statement i said is kind of appreciating something thats goin to happen in the future. Like the questionnaire is not yet filled up. So in that context....I am not sure though

I am beginning to think that my statement is wrong
