had and have

Are both had and have possible in this sentence. I'm pretty sure that had is correct, and think that have is also possible because the statement is still valid at the moment. Please confirm.

I never had a class in which I had multiple assignments in one day.
I never had a class in which I have multiple assignments in one day.

Thanks. I thought that it was possible without changing the tense to present perfect. Another example, I did not know we have milk in the fridge, and not had.
