Is the use of "had" needed here?

Mother is calling to see if you had received the package.

I think it better to remove 'had' or replace it with 'have' because if 'had' is used like above, then it implies that you received the package but may not have it with you now.

You have to use eith of the following.

Mother is calling to see if you have received the package.

Mother was calling to see if you had received the package.

Past perfect is used to describe an action that occured in the past before another action.
