Gush up meaning?

Hi, 

I read in Headway Advanced book "she came gushing up to me on the platform _ 'Oh how lovely, we can travel back together!' "

Does "gush up" mean "hurry", "rush"?!

Would you provide me with an explanation or a synonym?

The 'up' does not go with the 'gushing'. It's She came up to me, gushing.
