At the end of the book in the Acknowledgments part the author wrote:

To Tom DePont, for being a great friend, wonderful advisor and the guru of Nascar for yours truly.

Do you think it means DePont was the guy who took part in the races or just had an interest in the Nascar races? He was an expert on Nascar races?
