Guide me on

"Could you guide me on when I should use the following words..."

Is the use of the preposition "on" after "guide" correct?

Personally, I wouldn't use "guide" in the above types of sentences; however, if I should have to, I would perhaps say,

"Could you guide me as to the use of the following words?"

Could someone help me?

'On' is common in conversation. Few people say 'as to'.
