Song Writing & Lyrics

GUESS THE SONG!

Why not write a line (or two) of a song, then we'll have to guess the title? And give lines from another one, of course!

"Long, long time ago, I can still remember how that music used to make me smile..."

Top answer

AMERICAN PIE! " Perhaps that's not enough words, let me know if it isn't. Best Wishes, Sarah[bah]

American Pie?

Ok...here are a few lines from another well known song – in paraphrase:

"I went and asked my manager, who replied: 'I'm terribly sorry, old chap, but I'm afraid you'll have to do some overtime'. Occasionally, therefore, I find myself in a state of some perplexity as to my next step. There appears to be no remedy for my seasonal malaise."

'What am I going to do?' said Eddie. 'I think I know the answer, but I'm too young to post.'

Hi dear all
It's an idea, wistiti2.
I have no idea as to Sarah, MrPedantic and Mike's ones, I'd like to put my line (which very slightly changed), may I?

We don't need to escalate, war is not the answer, only love can conquer hate.
We've got to find a way to bring some loving here toda

Summertime blues / E. Cochran

Now, my turn:
"Ah but you got away, didn't you babe, you just turned your back on the crowd, you got away, I never once heard you say..."

(Sorry, Mike, I don't have a clue for yours...)

... And sorry Sarah & Viognier, hadn't seen yours, but after reading I'm clueless too...

I had a feeling it's going to be hard to connect questions and answers here...

Hi pieanne!
Yes, each is going on his own way, badly organized!

OK, I give an answer to my lines: it's from Marvin Gaye's "What is going on."

... classic!...

You're right, it's a standard... I know the tune, but not the lyrics... Emotion: sad

Hi pieanne, you like this song, too!!
Yes, it's a standard forever.
(I changed lyrics slightly, cut out some words, to make it a little bit difficult.)
I have no clue to your one. Pity!
