Nowadays more people are choosing to live with friends or alone rather than with their families. This trend is likely to have a negative impact on communities.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?
An increasing number of people does not prefer to live with their families and instead choose to live either alone or with friends. According to some, this trend is harmful for communities. I completely agree with this view because of numerous reasons.
First, when people live jointly with their families, their behavior is controlled by their parents. This means, parents make them disciplined and encourage them to select right words in communication. In other words, people may use slang language or inappropriate words while living alone or with their friends. Most international students of the Stanford University, for example, were suspended recently owing to using abusive language in the University. The investigation team discovered that these students were residing in hostels there. Thus, living with families is essential for appropriate behavior so that they can become upstanding members of societies.
Second, most people can indulge in illegal activities or wrongdoings when they do not reside with their families. Older family members usually restrict their children from illegal activities by monitoring their daily routines. Young family members learn to differentiate between right and wrong. Many laborers of the South Asian countries, for instance, are residing with co-workers in London. Despite prohibition on using drugs there, they indulge themselves in wrongdoings. This evidence supports that those who live with friends may fall prey to criminal acts.
In conclusion, although numerous people decide to reside alone or live with their friends, it has many drawbacks for societies. I take the view that people should prefer to live with their families.
