1. Growth of about 15 percent was over the past decade.
2. Growth of about 15 percent over the past decade was real.

Are the sentences possible to use?

Sentence 2 is better. I wonder why the first sentence does not have the word "real" in it. The first sentence does not sound natural.

Thank you so much and is it not possible to use 'Be + over periods like other prepositions?

I am in the house/ This is about you / This is for you, etc.

'Something is over some period' pattern is wrong or unnatural?
