Grows/Grew (future)

Hi, is "grows" used correctly here, or should it be "grew"? I'm unsure as to why "grew" is not used; indeed, is "wanted" correct?

Book said that he wanted to be a baseball player when he grows/grey up.

Thanks.
Have a great weekend, everyone!

  • 'Grew' can certainly be used.
  • But you can say 'grows' if he said this fairly recently and if that is still his ambition.
