Growing list vs. growing rate

Hi!

I read the following question in an official TOEIC exam:

"122. There is a growing ______ of residents who oppose the construction of a shopping center on the corner of and Flag avenues.



(A) anger

(B) list

(C) rate"



Which do you think is correct?

List is the answer. There is a growing list of residents etc. Anger would have stated; there is growing anger of residents.

List is the answer.

There is a growing list of residents etc.

Anger would have stated; there is growing anger of residents.

Rate would have written; There is an increasing rate of residents.

Thanks, Dave Phillips. Let me explain what I've understood:

"122. There is a growing ______ of residents who oppose the construction of a shopping center on the corner of Kingston and Flag avenues.

(A) anger
(B) list
(C) rate"

The correct answer is B, "list".

C, "rate", is not correct considering the usage.
