GROW MORE ATTACHED

Dear Teachers,

1. He said he cannot forget about his ex-girlfriend. So I told him to take as much time as he needs to figure things out in his head. But I cannot stick around and grow more attached.

- What does "stick around and grow more attached" mean here?

Thanks very much to Teachers,

Stevenukd.

Assuming this is all delivered by the same speaker, we have three characters: I, he, and the ex-girlfriend. It sounds like there's missing context. Why am I telling him to take some time?

So I'm saying, he can take his time (here, or somewhere else) but as for me, I'm getting out of he
