Group of people who don't let any outsider join in.

Hi

I need a word for a group of people who don't let any outsider join the group.

She felt that the collage was full of _________________.

[Means there were different groups of students but/and she couldn't join any.]

Thanks,

Tom

Thanks, Clive.

So the sentence sounds natural to your native ears?

She felt that the class was full of cliques and there was practically no-one she could befriend.

Yes, except more natural is
. . . practically no-one she could be/make friends with.

Cliques would not be in the class, but their members would be.

She felt that the class was full of members of cliques and there was practically no one she could befriend.

Hmmmm. I don't agree. The original wording seems fine and natural to me. Emotion: smile
