Is this natural to sa' group of'?

He's made a group of friends since he moved here.

No. He's made a lot of friends, but not a group of friends.

But just because it's not very natural doesn't mean you'll never hear anyone say it.

The phrase "a group of friends" is completely natural. However, somehow it doesn't sound very natural to me to say that someone has made a group of friends. I'm not sure if everyone would be of the same opinion.

You can say:

He's made a lot of / a number of / many / etc. friends since he moved here.
