Ground zero

Can you please check my sentences and tell me if I understand this expression correctly?

For example:

1) It is only ground zero for our project. There still is a lot to come!

2) 2 years ago you were at ground zero of your relationships, and now you are getting married. It's just a really hard thing to believe.

Can you please define it? I'll really appreciate it!

'Ground Zero' is the place on the ground where an explosion begins when a bomb is dropped, So 1 is a touch melodramatic but just about OK, 2 is probably over the top.

Ground Zero is the name given to the site of the World Trade Center buildings in New York City where the terrorists flew passenger planes into the towers on Sept 11, 2001.

Other ground zero sites are in Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the target sites of former nuclear bomb testing in the western US.
