Groomers, washers, lickers

I am reading "Ricky Rocket" by Shoo Rayner with my 7 year old.

"The bathrooms and toilets were separated for washers, lickers, groomers and the rest!

Please explain the meaning of "washers, lickers, groomers".

Why can't I find them in dictionary.

Jigneshbharati Please explain the meaning of "washers, lickers, groomers". That doesn't make sense in any ordinary way. I tried to find the book online, but there are many, and you don't say which one this is.

It means "people/creatures that wash, lick, groom". As far as I can gather from the page that you posted, "lickers" are creatures, such as cats, that clean themselves by licking. "groomers" are presumably creatures that groom their hair/fur. "washers" may include humans (or human-like
