Grocer's

Hi,

Is it true that in British English people use 'grocer's (shop)' and not 'grocery store'?

"I work at a grocer's shop." - British English

"I work at a grocery store." - American English

Thank you.

The corner grocer's shop is all but gone, replaced by supermarkets and convenience stores. We're more likely to say the name of the supermarket chain, or 'the Spar shop in Locharbriggs'.
