Grinding

I believe "grinding something" would mean "to break it down into finer particles". In that sense we could grind something solid, like a rock maybe.

But what about the process of turning leaves or similar soft materials into paste or pulp by crushing it with something like a roller etc.? Would it be called grinding too ?
