Speech & Pronunciation

grimace

Hi,

My Longman claims the verb TO GRIMACE has alternative pronunciations. The noun GRIMACE, too, can be pronounced differently.

(1) How is the noun "grimace" usually pronounced in AE?
(2) How do AE speakers normally pronounce the verb "to grimace"?

Are there native speakers who say "GRImace" (noun) but "griMACE" (verb)? (as is the case with say the pair ADDress/to addRESS?)

My experience with American English is that it's pronounced GRImace as both a noun and a verb.

I have heard the alternate, perhaps on TV. It sounded strange to me. That program was probably a British import.
