Grid

Hi, is that correct to understand "Grid" as network of electricy cables? or its only mean network.. (of something)

then they heard about an EMP that could fry the grid from the sky. and about a cyber attack they could fry it through the internet, and that even natural threats, scientists have been warning us about like a solar super storm or a mega thrust earthquake could also take down the grid?.
