Greetings for a new born

Is it 'congratulations on your baby" or "congratulations for your baby"?
thanks

Top answer

I think it is 'congratulations on the birth of your baby' (you are congratulating the parents). 'Congratulations for your baby' might be understood as you congratulating the baby (not the parents who did all the hard work).

Dear Anonymous -- did you notice that the thread you were replying to was more than three years old? Also, your suggestion was identical to the response given long ago. You're welcome to reply to old threads if you like, but it would probably be a better use of your time to select recent threads.
