I have a doubt. I wonder if anyone could help me with it:

You would have to say, "... there are three pencils", but I interpret the sentence as being an abbreviated version of, "In my backpack there is a pencil, and there is a book, and there is a rubber."

If the pencil is more than one you can put "are", if not you are correct with "in my backpage there is a pencil, a book and a rubber"
