Greet my eyes VS catch my eyes

Which is correct in the following sentence, greeted my eyes or caught my eyes? Thank you!

Each spring brings a new blossom of wildflowers in the ditches along the highway I travel daily to work. There is one particular blue flower that has always caught/greeted my eye. I've noticed that it blooms only in the morning hours, the afternoon sun is too warm for it.

In this case, we can both say "greeted my eyes" and "caught my eye". Am I right?

This sounds rather poetic to me. I don't use this expression, so I have no idea how it would be used. I suppose a poet might use greeted my eye or greeted my eyes.
