Hi

Would you say that green chilli and green pepper are the same thing? What about capsicum?

Thanks,

By combining several ideas from my dictionary I may evolve the following: * Chilli is a pod of a capsicum – a type of hot pepper. * Green pepper is a pod of the sweet papper, which is another type of pepper, different from capsicum, and as its name suggests, it's sweet. * However, there is also a jalapeño, which is a very hot green chilli; so chilli may also be green.

We instead refer to them only by specific variety names, e.g. capsicum, pimento, jalapeno (which is only quite hot, not very hot; there are far hotter varieties).
