Vocabulary

greatly overpopulated

Hello,
Is it true that this sentence "The entire planet and virtually every nation is greatly overpopulated"? I realize that "vastly" could be used instead, but for some reason I think that "greatly" could work as well. I would personally leave vastly/greatly out because "overpopulated" conveys the idea.

Top answer

The sentence works fine. 'Greatly' works better than 'vastly'. Whether you want to use 'greatly' or not depends on how overpopulated you feel the nations and the planet are.

Thank you. I personally think that "terribly overpopulated" works as well. I am not sure if any country's terribly overpopulated, though.
