graze = walk next to something

Is this the correct verb?

The dog grazed the wall as it was scared to fall in the swimming pool.

"Graze"means to come close enough to scratch, but not to penetrate and injure severely: The bullet only grazed his head.
It also means to browse (as in eating grass.) The horses were grazing in the field.


Perhaps you want the verbs "hug," "cling to" or "press against."
