grapes of wrath

- Going far? - No, just a couple of miles.
- I'd have walked her if my dogs wasn't pooped out.

The two lines above are from The Grapes Of Wrath. I figured out that "dogs" means legs, but I have no idea what "her" could mean, why it is there anyway.

Hi, I'd have walked the distance, the route. In some varieties of informal speech, a thing can be referred to as 'her'. The speaker really just means I would have walked, except I am tired.

"Dogs" is usually slang for feet, not legs as a whole.
"My dogs are barking" = my feet are really sore from so much standing/walking.
