Grandmotherly

Hi

You may find that nurse practitioners are more open-minded about
natural methods than doctors are, because nurses’ training tends to be
more holistic. In many states nurse practitioners can act as primary
care providers. You may also find that women and younger doctors, in
general, are more open-minded (although I also hear of grandmotherly
practitioners who fondly remember the home remedies of their youth).

Does "grandmotherly practicioners" mean something like "overprotective practicioners" or maybe just "older" practicioners?

By the way: does "practicioners" above probably mean "physicians"? In other words, the author says that she heard that there are some physicians, more understanding physicians who have fond recollections of the natural remedies they took in the past.
