Grammer + some short questions please

It's about a person getting back memories about what he had in the holocaust but it's been telling in the form of a story. I'd apperciate any help.

1. Is that correct to write "After the camps"? or should I wrote- After the camps/after the period of camps/after the camps days?

He looked at me and said: "After the camps do you really think we can still remember?

And how could I describe Shabbat dinner? We danced around the Rabie, all the children.

But I remember this one thing he told us over and over again and I'll never forget this for the rest of my life: "children my dear sweet, children ", he whispered to me out of the fire and kept saying:

"The greatest thing in this world is to do good to someone else!"
