grammer question

the more times one repeats an action or recalls the information, the more dendrites sprout to connect new memories to old ones, the stronger the connections between neurons become, and the more efficient the brain becomes at retrieving that memory or repeating that action.

I read this part (above) in the book. and this queit a long sentence gives me hard time understanding.
can someone please help me to understand this sentence in detail?
I don't really understand what that means but the structure of the sentence (the more~, the more)
