Grammer help needed

The question I was asked was "Did you vote in the last Presidential election? Congressional election?"

I need to know the proper way to answer this question. Would it be 1.) Yes, I voted in both the last Presidential and Congressional elections. or 2.) Yes, I voted in both the last Presidential election and Congressional election. or 3.) Yes, I voted in both the last Presidential and Congressional election.

Please let me know which is correct and why. Thanks.

For spoken English any of the three is OK; so is 'I sure did-- voted in both of 'em'. '

For formal writing, choose #1 (which could mean two of each) or #2 or

'Yes, I voted in both the last Presidential election and the last Congressional election.'
