Grammer help

Well I'm on a quest to get better at grammar mechanics by the end of this summer so I'll be asking a lot of questions!

Q1: How would I say I lay down in paste tence because according to a book I can't said "I laid" down because that is referring to an object.

Q2: Why is it that when you say "The team efforts" there is a 's' on the effort but when you say "The Teams' effort" there is no 's'? Or am I completely wrong?

Q3: What is the subject or predicate in the sentence "Because of our lead in the market, we may be able to risk introducing a new product."

I have a hard time finding the subject and predicate in some sentences. =\

Q4: A) Introducing Ligia to my favorite music, at top volume, she started teaching me the most popular Colombian dance steps.
B) I introduced Ligia to my favorite music, at top volume, and she started teaching me the most popular Colombian dance steps.

The book says that A is incorrect because it has an incorrect modifier. What does this mean?

Q5: The sentence is originally "My father spoke of the days before two teenagers TAKEN over the phone.

and the 2 answer choices were:
TOOK
HAD TOOK
and I was contemplating replacing it had took because it sounds past tense but apparently took is the correct one because had took is an incorrect verb form. What does that mean??

Sorry for all this.. Thanks!
