Is there any mistake in the following sentence

An individual piece of mail is a letter or (on the computer) an email.

I hope you got a chance to see this email.

It's rather incongruous since the person reading the content of "this email" (you) certainly has had the chance to see it !

I really abhor the word "got."

Others already commented on the sentence. That's the reason I only had one comment which was the one mistake many learners made time and time a gain. As for using "got", it is not ideally correct, but for conversation English, it is acceptable to me.
