how many different clauses are there?

Top answer

As many as you can produce. If you are asking about how many different kinds of clauses there are, the answer depends on which system of analysis you are using. In the most basic analysis, there are just two types of clauses, main clauses , which can stand alone as complete sentences, and subordinate clauses, which form part of a sentence and depend on, or are part of, another element in the sentence.
