Grammer

Please help to explain the following essay ( part of a letter ) .

Essay :

I ( write ) to ask you for more information about the visit to the home for the aged. I have just learnt about the visit from the poster on the club bulletin board that it ( fall ) on the second day of X'mas. I would like to know more about what we ( do ) there and what we should bring.

Answer : ( write ) becomes ' am writing '

( fall ) becomes ' falls '

( do ) becomes ' will do '

Please explain why use ' falls' rather than ' fell '. Thanks.

" If we're talking about the present, we would say, " This month, the twenty-second falls on Wednesday," assuming it hasn't fallen yet. I don't know that I can "explain" it. It seems to resemble the present tense used to describe habitual behavior.
