In current usage, it's okay to use "me" after a verb:
It is John and me who do all the work.
It is John and I is still correct.

I notice that people who use "me" in this case often hypercorrect and use "I" for the objective case:
Between John and I, who is best? As object of the preposition, "between," we should use "John and me."
