grammatically correct? incorrect?

"Holly gets off the sofa and stretches on out across the bed."

Is this sentence grammatically correct? Can 'stretch' be used with 'on', and what does 'out across' mean?

Top answer

Holly stretched out on or across the bed, not both. If she stretched out across the bed, her head was at one side and her feet at the other. If she stretched out on the bed, she was probably lying as one normally does.
