Grammatically correct?

Are both sentences grammatically correct?

I hope your mom doesn't think I’m being disrespectful for my not having gone to the hospital.

Can I eliminate 'my'?

I would simplify the sentence with ...disrespectful by not going to the hospital. by not having gone would be correct in some situations, but here I think it's a case of "too much verb tense."
