Grammatical stiffness

"Who's that tramping over my bridge?" "It's only I/me, the smallest Billy Goat Gruff."
I think that "me" is less stiff and is more conversational. Can we use "me" in this one instead of the more pompous "I"?
"A fine pair of fashion plates are we/us."
I'm unsure of which one is correct.
"The only attendees still awake at the lecture were Miranda and I/me." I think that "I" is correct because "Miranda is still awake" and "I am still awake," (not "Me is/are still awake"). =>Correct punctuation w/ending parenthesis? I.e., no period inside ending parenthesis?
Thanks.

I probably shouldn't answer this, because it has absolutely nothing to do with grammar. It's only me is the currently idiomatic response, although "I" is grammatically correct (subjective case). A fine pair of fashion plates are we!
